Belinda Wong, Mezzo

The Octet mourns the loss of our friend and colleague, Belinda.

Belinda had more than twenty years of choral experience and was a choral scholar at Trinity College, University of Melbourne. A versatile and respected musician, she toured internationally – including four concert tours to Europe and one to North America, and was part of numerous recordings as well as broadcasts on ABC Classic FM. Belinda attained an ABRSM Advanced Certificate in piano and a double degree in Commerce and Science. When she had to pause her piano studies due to an injury, Belinda poured her musical energy into singing and discovered her love for choral singing with the Choir of Trinity College. Even during the most hectic of times in a corporate career, Belinda always found time for music and loved the ability to combine her professional skills with her passion for music in a number of volunteer governance roles. She served as a board member for the Australian International Opera Awards and was President of Ensemble Gombert.

Belinda believed there is something magical about gathering to sing and she sang with a number of choirs including The Consort of Melbourne, Melbourne Chorale Ensemble, St Johns Bach Choir, and Ensemble Gombert. She had the opportunity to collaborate with Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, the Tallis Scholars, Rolling Stones, La Compañia, Ludovico’s Band and Accademia Arcadia.

Belinda had a beautiful voice, and was an exceptional musician. We miss her deeply.
